APPARITION When you capture a manifestation on film. This is usually a spirit that has taken human form and has come down to be visible by cameras, and/or the human eye.

DEMONS
Demons are associated with evil. They can pretend to be anyone you want them to be. They will do whatever it takes to get in to our world. Once they have entered, they will follow you wherever you go…don’t bother moving to a new neighbourhood, it won’t work!

A game that many play with is called the ‘Ouija Board’. It is used to contact family members, or random spirits/demons. You have no idea who or what your talking to and are inviting nothing but trouble into your home. A demon only needs an invitation from you, and then they can go to work.

For those out there who are in to Witchcraft, The Calgary Associations of Paranormal Investigations said it best by stating, "Playing with spells, potions and other related activities, can help demons find their way to you. For example, in a spell, you ask for bad luck to fall upon your enemy. Who do you think will do it? If you guessed a demon, you would probably be right. After their job is done they will want something from you, something that you will not be able to refuse.

Wiccan's believe that they should do no harm and that sending out these types of spells will only cause them to return threefold onto the sender. This is why the best defence is to not play at being Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Educate yourself about who Wicca’s really are, what they actually do, what they believe and who to trust with Wicca related activities. This should help to avoid being involved in any negative repercussions. It will also help to dispel myths surrounding this belief system."

ELECTRONIC VOICE PHENOMENA (E.V.P) Have you ever played back a taped recording and discovered voices that were not there when you originally recorded it? This is an EVP. What is an EVP=electronic voice phenomena. Many experts conduct EVP's to try and explain why some spirits are haunting certain sites. They ask questions to the spirits to see if they can get responses from beyond the grave.

ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD DETECTOR (E.M.F) This is a piece of equipment used widely by many people in the paranormal investigation field. It is a scientific instrument used to measure electromagnetic radiation.  Ghosts/spirits are thought to consist of energy therefore creating readings on the meter that are unexplainable.

ENERGY IMPRINTS Most people know this as Residual Hauntings. Each of us has energy which we leave on objects we touch or wherever we go.  This is how clairsentience is used, by touching an object of a missing person and being able to connect with their essence. Each time we touch something we leave a energy imprint. Objects which can retain this energy for the longest period of time are items such as jewellery, metals, crystal and pottery. Even items such as books or fabric can hold these imprints for a great period.  Sometimes the energy will stay on these objects till the person who must receive the message understands.

When I residual haunting occurs it is because a emotional incident or violent event has taken place that has left this energy behind. Often times the ghost will repeat these events, re-living it over and over.

GHOSTS
A ghost is an apparition of a deceased person. They have been known to appear in different forms to those who are still living through time. They can manifest as  apparitions, shadows (white or black), mist/ectoplasm and orbs . They come in all shapes and sizes, young or old.

Some people have the misconception that if you send a ghost to the light they will go. This is untrue. You cannot force a spirit into the light, if they do not wish to leave. They may have unfinished business, or an unpaid debt. If a ghost is invading your home you may ask it to leave, or have your home blessed/cleansed.

GHOST HUNTER A person who uses basic guidelines set by researchers to search for haunted areas. They are generally in probable locations such as cemeteries, abandoned buildings, historical sites, etc.

HAUNTINGS Most spirits don't necessarily haunt in the location in which they died, but they will stay wherever is most comfortable for them. Some like to travel like a hitchhiker with you and follow you home. For some reason experts believe that these spirits are earthbound for an unknown reason. Hauntings include residual, intelligent, demonic and portal.

INFRA-RED CAMERA This technology has been very helpful in the paranormal field. The infra-red camera is used to remotely determine the temperature of objects. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature, therefore the camera allows one to see variations in temperature using colour. This technology is regularly used for military and industrial purposes.  Jeff operates the FLIR PM695 infrared imaging systems for the group on select investigations.

GHOSTLY AURAS Sometimes you can pick up on auras from those who have already left this world. The colours listed below indicate their meanings. We used “Auras” by Paul Naras as a helpful reference. Further readings of auras can be found in many books at your local Libraries and Book Stores.

MOTION DETECTORS Are devices that detect any form of motion.
Although we have not worked with one directly we have read and heard from others that this device works well with detecting paranormal activity.

NIGHT HAGS are a common theme in folklore stories of an entity who visits victims while they sleep and usually attempts to crush, smother or strangle them. Those who survive the night hag report being awoken with a feeling of dread, unease and not being able to move or speak. There is often pressure on the chest making it difficult to breath or you wake up paralyzed. In most cases the victim will feel as though they are about to pass out, weakened, drained for prolonged periods of time.

ORBS - The orb is when a ghost/spirit uses energy from a source   (powerlines,batteries,people) so they can manifest.  This would explain why the orbs form in the shape of a round ball. Many times they show up on pictures or video. There are some who can see orbs with their own eyes. If you look at the laws of Physics energy being transferring like that would assume is natural shape of a sphere.   This is why we use EMF readings to uncover any paranormal activity. If you notice each orb is different and has a fingerprint look appearance inside them.  There are many people who claim they have captured orbs in their photos, but it may be bugs, sun or water spots, dirt and other explainable things.

OUIJA BOARDS These 'childhood' board games now sold by the Parker Brothers have been used for many years as a way to communicate with spirits. As you know you can buy one at many stores. We do not recommend using a Ouija board because it is not a safe way to contact spirits. Basically by using the Ouija board you are inviting unwanted guests into your home, who may not want to leave. You wouldn't invite in a stranger off the street would you? If you decide to use one please use caution and protect yourself.

PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION Going to a possibly haunted area or location, taking photos, audio recordings, videos, electromagnetic field monitoring, etc. More often than not, conclusions can not be made without more than one visit to the haunted.

POLTERGEIST This word is derived from the German language, Poltern meaning to rumble/make noise, and Geist meaning "ghost" or "spirit". These are ghosts/spirits which manifest themselves by moving and influencing objects.

PSYCHIC ABILITY Although some con-artists have given psychics a bad rap, by faking their abilities...real psychics do exist.  Fortune telling has been dated as far back as ancient times. Everyone has some sort of psychic ability in them, it's just that most don't use it.  Many people have had the experience where they knew someone was going to call at the exact moment they did.  One way to explain psychic ability is, everyone can make art, but not everyone is an artist. This goes the same way for psychics, they have a stronger ability than others to use their sixth sense.

There are many abilities which are categorized as "psychic" such as, Clairvoyance(to see), Clairsentience(feeling/touching), Clairaudience(to hear), Clairalience(to smell), Claircognizance(to know), Clairgustance(to taste), Mediumship(communication with spirits), Telepathy(speach through mind), Telekenisis(move objects). Some use instruments to guide their abilities such as tarot cards and runes.

PSYCHIC/ENERGY VAMPIRES Brushing all those negative things aside, one may say that energy vampires can be very good individuals indeed. They can even suffer when they see the sufferings of other people, which they originally caused. They basically either consciously or subconsciously drain energy from others. Energy vampires subconsciously provoke scandals to refresh themselves with the power of contradictions.

To stop these vampires from feeding on you, cross your arms across your solarplex, which is the spot in the middle of the chest where the bones meet. This prohibits them from sucking your life force from you. If you know someone who could be one of these Energy Vampires or Psychic Vampires, cross your arms you might see them looking as if they are drained...and you no longer feel suddenly tired around this person anymore

VORTEX Occurs when a fast moving orb streaks across the camera's field of view during exposure. This can give the look of a long streak or funnel.
